Ranking Criteria — FAQ
How is the TypingMonk leaderboard ranked?
Scores are ranked by WPM (words per minute), highest first. Ties are broken by accuracy, then by whoever set the score first. Each player holds one spot per board — their best qualifying score — so the boards show people, not repeat entries.
What are the Sprint, Standard, and Endurance boards?
Boards are grouped by test length so scores compete fairly: Sprint covers 1-minute tests (peak speed), Standard covers 3–5 minute tests (the format most employment tests use), and Endurance covers tests of 10 minutes or longer (sustained stamina). A 1-minute sprint naturally produces higher WPM than a 30-minute marathon, so they are never ranked against each other.
Why is my score not on the leaderboard?
To qualify, a test must be taken on medium, hard, or very hard difficulty with at least 90% accuracy. Easy-mode runs and low-accuracy runs count as practice — they appear in your personal dashboard but not on the public boards. Also, only your best score per board is shown, so a run weaker than your existing best will not change your entry.
What is the difference between the Champions and Guests boards?
The Champions board is for signed-in players: one permanent best score per person per board, tied to their account. The Guests board is for anonymous players and resets weekly — guest scores expire after 7 days. Sign in with Google to move from the guest board to a permanent Champions spot.
Do difficulty levels affect my ranking?
All qualifying difficulties (medium, hard, very hard) rank together by raw WPM, and your difficulty is displayed as a badge next to your score. Harder difficulties are not given a score multiplier — but a high WPM on very hard text speaks for itself.
