Verify a Typing Test Result
Received a TypingMonk certificate or result link from a candidate? Enter the credential ID to see exactly what our server recorded — speed, accuracy, test length, date and integrity checks.
The ID is printed at the bottom of every certificate and is part of the link (typingmonk.com/verify/XXXXX-XXXXX). You can also paste the whole link.
What a verified result shows
The recorded score
- Net WPM, gross WPM, accuracy and error count
- Test length, how long was actually typed, passage difficulty
- Exact date and time (UTC and IST) and the device type
- The candidate’s name, with an identity badge if they signed in with Google
Integrity checks
- Score recomputed server-side from raw counts
- Tamper-evident signature on the record
- Paste attempts blocked and window-focus losses during the test
- Keystroke-rhythm variance (uniform timing can indicate automation)
Typing speed benchmarks for hiring
| Role | Typical requirement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Clerical / customer service | 35–40 WPM, 95%+ | SSC CHSL LDC: 35 WPM English · US OPM clerk-typist: 40 WPM |
| Administrative assistant | 50–60 WPM, 96%+ | Prefer a 5-minute test over a 1-minute sprint |
| Data entry | 50–60 WPM, 98%+ | Accuracy matters more than speed; check the error count |
| Transcription / legal support | 65–80 WPM, 98%+ | Look for sustained speed on the 5- or 10-minute test |
Many certificate policies require a test of at least 5 minutes, issued within the last 6 months. Both facts are shown on every verify page.
Verification — FAQ
What does a verified TypingMonk result prove?
It proves that a typing test with the shown speed, accuracy, length and date was completed on typingmonk.com and recorded by our server at that moment. The record is signed and cannot be edited afterwards by the candidate. It does not prove who was at the keyboard unless the “identity verified” badge is shown, which means the candidate signed in with Google and the name comes from that account.
How do I verify a typing certificate someone sent me?
Find the 10-character credential ID printed at the bottom of the certificate (for example 7K3MQ-9XZ2P), type it into the box above, or scan the QR code on the certificate. The page that opens is served from our database — compare its numbers with the certificate. If the page says “No result found” or “withdrawn”, do not rely on the certificate.
Is a TypingMonk result an official typing certification?
No. TypingMonk is a free, unproctored online typing test. Many employers accept online results as evidence of typing ability, and the verify page gives them more detail than a printed certificate, but accredited or government bodies (SSC, RRB, civil service) run their own supervised tests. Employers are always free to re-test.
What integrity checks does the result page show?
Whether the server recomputed the WPM from raw character counts, whether the record’s cryptographic signature is still valid, how many paste attempts were blocked, how many times the test window lost focus, whether the timing between keystrokes varied like human typing, and whether the name is Google-verified or self-entered. These are signals to weigh, not verdicts.
Can the candidate change or delete a verified result?
They can revoke (withdraw) a link from their dashboard, after which the page shows that the result was withdrawn and hides the score. They cannot change any number, the name, or the date on an existing result; a retake always gets a new credential ID.
How do I get my own verified link?
Finish any typing test on TypingMonk and click “Share Verified Result” on the results screen. You will get a link, a QR code and a certificate PNG you can send to employers or add to LinkedIn under Licenses & Certifications.
