During major national emergencies including floods, wildfires, ice storms, and public health crises, the Government Operations Centre in Public Safety Canada serves as the federal hub for emergency information gathering, situational awareness, and coordination of federal assistance to affected provinces and territories, with administrative staff supporting the centre's twenty-four hour operations through accurate and rapid documentation of developments, preparation of situation reports, and management of the communications flow among federal, provincial, and territorial emergency management organisations.
